Erin Breen: And people aren't the only ones who like to cool off with
a dip in a pool. The tigers at the Safe Haven Rescue Zoo in Imlay,
Nevada enjoy a dip as well.
Lynda Sugasa: Tigers are known lovers
of water and they love to swim and this is a great way for them to stay
cool in the summer.
Breen: The International Fund for Animal
Welfare brought these two tigers....Carly and Lily to the Safe Haven
Rescue Zoo in Nevada a year ago. They were rescued from a horrible
situation in upstate New York. And to keep the cool...IFWA also built
them a pool. This is the very first time they have had the chance to
swim.....and Lily was cautious.....but took right to it.
Sugasa: You can see how she's swimming and dunking her head under the water.
Breen:
These will be the coolest cats around for the summer. Their video has
had nearly 2 million views on the internet...and Carly was stand-off-ish
but…
Sugasa: Carly got to go in after Lily had her fill.
Breen: And the water will be recycled as irrigation water to give the big cats some grass to lie in. A win-win for everyone.
Safe
Haven is a sanctuary home for 32 big cats and non-releasable wildlife.
They can always use help at Safe Haven. In fact they have a big golf
tournament coming up at Wildcreek in Sparks August 21st. It's called tee
up for tigers....and they are trying to get sponsors and teams signed
up now. You can register and learn more about Safe Haven on their
website. We have a link all set up for you on ours: ktvn.com.
