Cape Town - A video showing a British woman, named Juhi Agrawal, touching two lions and eventually kissing both wild cats - intensely to say the least - is both disturbing and mesmerizing to see.
The video, captured two years ago and taken at the Cheetah Experience big cat centre in Bloemfontein, has recently resurfaced through social media.
"A moment that changed my life," said Agrawal after sharing the following image on her Google Plus page.
In the comment section of the photograph she explains that the kiss happened while she was volunteering at the centre and that she had indeed gotten to know the various cats living there quite well.
Most comments on the photograph were positive, with people expressing awe and appreciation at the beauty of the woman getting so close to one of Africa's most feared predators.
Some even compared Agrawal to deities and pop culture icons associated with the protection of wildlife:
"Cybele - an ancient nature goddess worshiped, "mother nature": The mother of all gods, men, and wild nature, lions were her faithful companions," said Phasha Kassahun, while Kurt Iyte, another commenter, compared her to Sheenah, Queen of the Jungle.
However, following a recent fatal attack at the Lion Park in Johannesburg, where a 29-year-old US tourist was mauled to death by a lioness, footage and photographs such as this could be seen as potentially dangerous, as they may encourage irresponsible behaviour.
Traveller24 contacted the Cheetah Experience regarding the video, but they have not responded to requests for commentary as yet.
