Rachel Ray cat food recalled after reports of cats getting sick

Posted: Jun 05, 2015
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Ainsworth Pet Nutrition is recalling five varieties of Rachael Ray Nutrish wet cat food because of potentially elevated levels of vitamin D.

According to a release from the Food and Drug Administration, there have been 11 reports of illness associated with these products.

Cats with too much vitamin D in their system might experience vomiting, diarrhea, increased thirst and urination, and muscle tremors or seizures. Symptoms usually appear within 12-36 hours after they've eaten.

The recalled products were distributed nationwide.

No other Rachael Ray Nutrish products are affected.

Anyone with questions about the recall can call Ainsworth's Consumer Care Team at 877-650-3486 or visit www.nutrishforpets.com.
