Among the sightings was a panther rampaging on a golf course in
Berkshire and a "small tiger" being forced into a car in East London
Nearly one big cat sighting a WEEK was reported to cops last year, it has emerged.
Across the UK, people claimed to have spotted leopards, panthers, pumas and even tigers in the wild.
Of the 45 callers to police, some feared the creatures had killed livestock while one, a jogger, claimed he saw two cats at least three feet tall pursuing three deer in Grimsby, Lincolnshire.
Other sightings include a panther rampaging on a golf course in Berkshire at 8am, a "black panther" sitting under a tree in North Wales, a "small tiger" being forced into a car in East London and a "puma" in a cemetery in Manchester.
Details of the sightings emerged in response to a Freedom of Information request from The Sun.
Danny Bamping, of the British Big Cats Society, told the paper the animals are kept as pets then released into the wild.
But many sightings are not reported.
The Beast of Bodmin is still said to roam Cornwall and the Beast of Exmoor is blamed for slaughtering sheep in neighbouring Devon.
