The latest video in the "Stop Wildlife Crime" series from the World Wildlife Fund explores the illegal trade in tiger parts.
Wild tigers are often killed for their skins, bones and meat. There may be fewer than 3,200 tigers left in the wild, according to WWF. The International Union for Conservation of Nature, which lists tigers as endangered, notes, "no subpopulation is greater than 250 mature individuals."
Earlier this year, researchers found that tigers in India could face extinction due to a lack of genetic diversity. The country is home to the largest populations of tigers in the world.
WWF also announced the creation of a new protected area for tigers in India in March.
New episodes of "Stop Wildlife Crime" will premiere every Sunday in September at 7 p.m. EST.
