Animals are
inherently funny. Just check out any feline video on You Tube and you’re
hooked on watching kooky cats. In keeping with the hilarious theme of
animals, the Cape May County Zoo is hosting a fundraiser — actually a
FUNraiser in hopes of raising much-needed monies for its big — guess
what — cats.
The event, called “LOL 4 Zoo,”
takes place 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Princeton Bar &
Grill in Avalon. Tickets are $40 online by Thursday, Jan. 15, $50 at the
door, and include music, dancing, door prizes, a Chinese auction and
Asian finger foods — the last two in honor of the Lunar New Year.
Food is provided and handmade by
Hannah MacQueen, support adminstrator for the Zoo who used to own The
Empress, a Chinese restaurant off of Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia.
There is a cash bar. A stand-up comedy show with comics Jeff McManus,
Brendan Eyre and Tommy Pope ends this hysterical evening.
Funds raised will go toward
construction on a new snow leopard exhibit and a freshening of the tiger
and cheetah habitats. If enough is raised, plans will begin on the
design of a new multi-species monkey house. And we all know how funny a
monkey house at the zoo is. Dress for the event is upscale casual, and
The Princeton is located at 2008 Dune Drive.
