Big Cat Rescue tigers create patriotic painting to raise funds
Wednesday, July 3, 2013
Plop some non-toxic children's watercolor paint on a blank canvas. Splash a little of Calvin Klein's Obsession cologne on top and wait for the magic.
Big Cat Rescue tigers Shere Khan and China Doll create "paw paintings" that are then listed for sale on eBay, helping to raise proceeds for the exotic cats at Big Cat Rescue, which provides food and medical care for abused, abandoned and retired cats. (It costs around $10,000 per year to feed and care for just one tiger.)
The cats have scent glands on their cheeks, so they rub on things to smell them and paint at the same time. Obsession just happens to be one of their favorite scents. Sometimes they roll around on the canvas, sometimes they paw at it, resulting in a beautiful, unique work of art.
