This lynx was sitting on the side of the road three kilometres south of Wabowden recently, but decided to move on almost as quickly as he was spotted in that somewhat skittish manner the big cats have around humans. Manitoba is home to three wild members of the cat family: the cougar, bobcat (Lynx rufus) and lynx (Lynx canadensis). Lynx roam the boreal forest here in the North and east while bobcats are found in southern Manitoba, primarily along forested waterways.
