Feline Arts Grant Program Will Award $5,000 To Cat Artists For ASPCA Fundraiser

If your favorite muse is a kitteh, you'll love the Feline Arts Grant Program -- and the ASPCA will love you.

The Feline Arts Grant Program is a partnership between the ASPCA and Fresh Step, the kitty litter company. The goal of the program is -- per a press release -- to "promote the paw-sitive representations of cats in mainstream culture" and to raise money for the animal advocacy group.
Cat art entries will be accepted online through Oct. 8, with selections made by a group that includes members of the Feline Arts Council -- a group that includes an ASPCA cat expert, a Sundance Channel producer and Luna the Fashion Kitty, who clearly has impeccable taste.

Winners will have their cat art commissioned for sale in the ASPCA online store (they'll get $5,000 to use toward production). There's one piece of art already on offer -- a "Ring of Pawer" selling for $19.99.

The items must be inspired by cats, but usable by humans, and can't include food, technology, literature or film. But hold the scratching post: cat filmmakers have options.

It's time to enter the 2014 Catdance Film Festival. What's Catdance? As the trailer (or should we say tailer?) explains, it's the second annual "celebration of independent cat cinema":

The winner will receive $50,000 -- and a Fresh Step Golden Litter Scoop. Entries are due by Sept. 3. May the fur be with you.
