Lions treat safari park visitors to impromptu concert (video)

Giving Katy Perry a run for her money, the fearsome predators belted out a roar after waking up from an afternoon nap

It isn't just Katy Perry who can claim a hit with a Roar - these singing lions don't do a bad job either.
A handful of lucky visitors were treated to an impromptu performance by the musical predators during a game drive in South Africa.
The lions had just woke up from an afternoon nap at Etali Safari Lodge, Madikwe.
They entertained the passers-by with an impromptu show as game ranger Doctor Masu parked close enough so that the guests had front row seats.

Lions communicate in a number of ways, depending on their intentions and the circumstances.
While it might look like a polished performance, the footage shot by Kirstoff Potgieter depicts the lions warning other animals of their presence and dominance.

The sound typically starts with a few deep roars before trailing off into a series of shorter ones, giving it a rhythmic sing-song feel.
The roars can be heard an astounding eight kilometres away.
