State wildlife officials
killed a young, female mountain lion that was spotted stalking a deer in
a neighborhood northwest of Missoula.
Fish, Wildlife and Parks spokeswoman Vivica Crowser says wildlife specialist Bob Wieser and his dog were able to respond immediately and treed the 50-pound cat on Thursday.
Missoula County Public Schools issued a notice of the lion's removal on Friday morning, asking parents to accompany their children to bus stops as a precaution.
Crowser says officials do not believe they are any other mountain lions in the area.
