Love is all around as February 14 draws ever closer, and two
jaguars have got into the romantic spirit early and are completely
inseparable
While jaguars are known to be solitary animals, Cassie and Luthor have become inseparable at their home at Dade City's Wild Things, an ecotourism zoo in Dade City, Florida. Cassie, with her tanned spotted coat, and black-coated Luthor have been sweethearts for ten years. They certainly seem to be well acquainted here. Constantly on show to passers by, they never get a romantic moment alone in the day, but they still struggle to keep their golden brown eyes off each other.
In one picture, Luthor appears to kiss his girlfriend by licking her face affectionately - and she doesn't argue at all. In fact her eyes are closed and she seems to be really enjoying his attention. And in another, Luthor tries to play with his best friend by putting his paw up to the side of her face. She seems to tolerate that - although she doesn't enjoy it as much as his kiss.
They aren't the first inseparable animals to celebrate the year's most romantic day. With everything from squirrels and monkeys, to penguins and polar bears getting all close, love really is all around this year. And it's not just animals of the same species declaring their love, a dog has also been pictured kissing a mongoose in possibly the most unusual pairing ever seen.
