LAKE COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) --
Firefighters rescued a black cat on Saturday from 19594 State
Highway 175 in Middletown after the Valley Fire tore through the area.
He was taken to Wasson Memorial Veterinary Clinic for treatment.Dr. Chris Holmes says cat is currently being fed through a feeding tube but is doing fine and is purring when he gets attention.
The team caring for the kitty is optimistic his eyes will be okay.
Holmes says the clinic has many cats and dogs that are being sheltered at this time and he's treated some dogs with smoke inhalation but there haven't been any serious cases until the cat was brought in.
The cat should be fine in about two weeks, Holmes estimated.
He thinks that now the sheriff is letting people back into the evacuated areas to look for their pets, he will start getting very busy.
