Jaguar’s Carefree Selfie Session Caught On Amazon Forest Cam

For centuries, jaguars living deep in the jungles of South America have been revered as symbols of majesty, prowling through dense forest with a kingly air of grace and dignity.

But, as it turns out, when they think no one is watching, that can all go out the window in a hurry.
Brazil’s Mamirauá Institute recently released some revealing footage of a jaguar captured on a pair of camera traps placed in an Amazon nature preserve. The big cat can be seen curiously investigating the imaging device as it snaps a few up-close self-portraits.

Afterward, the typically regal jaguar rolls around a bit in front of the camera, clearly without a care in the world.

But it doesn’t end there. Later on, during the day, what looks to be the same jaguar returns to take a few more shameless selfies.

There’s no doubt about it — the camera loves him. And the feeling appears to be mutual.
